Remodel Design and Project Management is the most special part of Shine Design. It takes a genuine problem solver to tackle a remodel because what is inside the closed wall, behind the tile, or under the flooring is often unknown. Having both the knowledge and team to take a space apart, and transform it into something new is a challenge Shine Design thrives on! Designing with both function and a “style” in mind, along with budget parameters is key. Clear communication is non-negotiable! Kristin is both a great listener and positive communicator. Clients must be open to giving clear feedback for the best outcome. Once a design is agreed upon, Kristin will coordinate purchasing of all materials, delivery of materials when needed, and start scheduling subcontractors. From demolition through the final touches, Kristin will regularly be on site to communicate design, ensure materials are available, and oversee workmanship. Homeowners will receive plenty of communication, but with a project manager they can sit back and watch the transformation take shape.

Custom Lighting Design and Sourcing has become a major facet of Shine Design business. While lighting is definitely the “finishing touch” for a new construction, some clients are looking for a few perfect selections for a remodel project. Other clients are simply pursuing a general lighting “refresh” for their home. Shine Design is glad to help select, purchase, and oversee installation of your new interior or exterior lighting fixtures no matter what your needs are.

Design for New Construction is a partnership between client, home builder, and Shine Design. With years of hands-on experience in the field on new home construction, Kristin brings her knowledge of design, building practices and processes, familiarity with trades, budget awareness, and scheduling to the team. Responsibilities can include working with cabinetmakers and tile setters, selecting plumbing and lighting fixtures, ordering flooring, sourcing custom hardware or mantels, and so much more. From each drawer pull, to doorstop and paint color to towel bar, Kristin makes every decision intentionally. Shine Design is essentially a fluid liaison between a new homeowner and their builder. Kristin personally meets with both client and general contractor to ensure design decisions are not overwhelming, meet budget, and materials are on site, on schedule. Building a home CAN be an enjoyable process!
